Ladies July Newsletter

August 5, 2018

The fantastic golfing  weather continues.

July 3rd– I was thrilled to present the Lady Captain’s Claret Jug to the winner, Val Winthorpe – congratulations Val. Ladies who were eagerly awaiting the results were treated to a delicious ‘Kirsty Cake’, what a marvellous confectioner we have in our midst. Many thanks to Bernard Humphries for keeping track of the scores on his excellent ‘Leader Board’. Sally Mundy was presented with the Munro Cup which she had won on June 5th.

July 10th– The Chris Mallion Trophy was won by a very happy Lynda Tyler. The CM Day is very popular and was again well supported, thank you ladies. We were pleased to welcome Jess and Gareth, Chris’ daughter and son who presented the Trophy.

July 25th– Junior Captain Georgia competed in the ‘Junior Open’. She had a fantastic game which resulted in a handicap reduction. The next day she entered the Stella Watson Trophy comp. and scored a creditable 40 Stableford points. High Legh were pleased and honoured to host this County Comp. and the day was very successful.

July 28th- The second and final round of the Club Championship was played in dry weather, but very windy conditions. In round 1 the previous week, Joan Hughes scored a new Course Record with a gross 72. She went on to achieve first place and was presented with the Gillian Watkins Cup for the second year running. The 36 hole Nett Plate was won by Dawn White with a marvellous nett 138, she had to be summoned back to the Presentation as she was relaxing in her PJ’s at home!!! Huge congratulations to Joan and Dawn.

New Members– – Lesley Sadler and Jennifer Wilks  have joined recently. A warm HL welcome to them both. Sheila has them in her ‘Buddy Sights’.

Locker Room – Please take time to visit to see the lovely framed photo of very happy Past Lady Captains, wrapped up snugly on a cold Drive-In Day. Robyn Cotton has worked wonders producing this from a small photo which was unearthed by Beryl Tench and I thank them both very much.
