Captain’s Drive In 25th March.
The major worry about the weather was unfounded and miraculously the day was bright and dry. The following handovers took place:
Neil Burke to Captain Trevor Pathak
Trevor Pathak to Vice Captain Brian Allatt
Pamela Fahey to Lady Captain Kath Davies
Kath Davies to Lady Vice Captain Lynn Allatt
Harry Shaw to Junior Captain Georgia Allen
115 players enjoyed the Texas Scramble and twelve extra guests attended for lunch.
The Captain’s 2018 Charity, ‘Stockdales’ was announced and an envelope raffle took place. Many thanks again for all the prizes and support.
After the delicious meal, prizes for the day were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams, NP and LD’s.
The winning team was Kenny Plumb, Anthony Barker, Simon McCoy and Tim Bessant.
The Ladies Eclectic Nett Trophy was presented to Janet Christensen, who was absolutely ecstatic to say the least!
The Winter League Trophy could not be presented as it had not been completed, nor the Ladies Eclectic Gross as the recipient could not attend.
Monday 26th March
The Business Ladies Team travelled to Astbury but unfortunately were beaten. Good wishes to them for the next match.
Tuesday 27th March
LC v LVC Matchplay. 46 ladies signed up and several more attended for lunch. As is becoming the norm, the LC Team won the comp. and all received a gift. Towels were awarded to Joan Hughes and Chris McEwan for the most ‘Birdies’.
Joan Hughes was presented with the Eclectic Gross Trophy. Congratulations Joan. Janet Christensen had to suffer being presented with her Trophy AGAIN! More excitement for Janet – can she cope with it all?
Thanks to Lynn Allatt and Karen Leach who managed the registration. Also thanks to Gill Lewis for organising the draw and closing the comp., ably assisted by Lynn Allatt.
Pamela gave a wonderful end of year speech and introduced the LC for 2018. The handover was an action replay from the Sunday, as dates had been altered due to the Drive In Day being held a week early due to Easter. Kath presented a gift and card to Pamela on behalf of the Ladies Section, to show their appreciation to her for a marvellous year.
LC Kath then announced the Committee:
LVC: Lynn Allatt,
Secretary: Lynda Tyler
Treasurer: Karen Leach
Adviser: Robyn Cotton
Comps. Closure: Gill Lewis
Buddies and Catering: Sheila Sims
Competitions Committee: Marjorie Lloyd
I thank Pamela for choosing me to be her LVC. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past year and feel honoured to go forward in my new role. Thank you sincerely for all your kind messages, hugs and promises of support.
