Hopefully we are all a little excited at the prospect of festive parties or quiet downtime, or both, at this time of the year! So, here's a news update before we enjoy our Christmas break.
On 7 November at the Handicap Meeting Tony Rodgers handed over the position of Chairman of Handicaps to David Hughes. Tony has managed handicaps for a number of years with help from Danny Smith and has been kept particularly busy issuing handicaps for all the new members year on year in addition to looking after the handicaps of the very considerable membership, so many thanks.
Without delay David, together with the handicap committee, undertook the annual review. The list of all amended handicaps has been posted on the website. Amended handicaps are active with immediate effect.
Cheshire County Ladies Golf Association
Congratulations to our 'Lady in Cheshire' Liz Smith who has been re-selected onto the Executive Committee. Ladies can support Liz and the CCLGA by taking part in some of their Open competitions next year. Details will be posted on the noticeboard.
The club's Fashion Show and shopping evening took place on Friday 10 November. Many ladies attended and cheered models Anna and Nicole along with other professional models as they walked the walk in stunning, fashionable outfits in addition to some super golfwear. Trade was brisk at the stalls and if this is to become an annual event it is a must for ladies to attend. A nice gesture of a mini raffle for gifts provided by those exhibiting for the captains' charity was much appreciated.
On Sunday 19 November, Captains and Vice Captains attended the High Legh Park Open Day arranged by management, which involved an 8 hole golf competition followed by lunch and complimentary golf lessons for visitors. This was confirmed to be a considerable success.
Welcome to our new members! All new lady members have a "buddy" - thank you buddies - and we look forward to meeting up soon.
Rain stopped Play
Unfortunately the 4th Eclectic on Tuesday 28 November was cancelled due to bad weather. In future, should this occur, Gavin has offered to hold a 1 hour golf clinic on the range at midday for the ladies so please bear that in mind!
Seniors' Christmas competition and lunch
On Monday 4 December the Seniors enjoyed a comp and Christmas lunch. Following lunch there was a presentation of trophies. A special presentation was then made to Neil Burke who has retired as Chairman of the seniors after many years and handed over to Keith Ashton. Well done Neil and good luck Keith!
Members and Guests Christmas Party
Saturday 9 December is party night at the club and we are hoping for a spectacular event as it was last year. Soprano entertainer Helen England will be raising the roof with help from all party goers!
The charity bunkers are now the 7th greenside and the first of the 3 bunkers on the right hand side on the 5th fairway, for the last few winter months of the Captains' year.
It is of course only a voluntary contribution, nonetheless, it all helps.
Further to a recent case of a Tuesday comp being oversubscribed Comps will be keeping a check on the bookings. We have already extended our allocation due to demand. Please use the 'waiting list' option if the bookings are full and you will now automatically be booked in when a space becomes available.
Ladies Christmas Comp and Lunch
Sign up is available on BRS. Teams will be drawn onto Masterscoreboard but please note the tee which teams start from will be drawn on the day at registration from 8.45am so please ignore any numbers which are just a list on Masterscoreboard not a tee number!

The schedule is on the main noticeboard and copies are available in the ladies locker room. It will also be available on the website. So, plenty happening before the festive break.

The first competition scheduled after Christmas is the 4BBB on 2 January.
All that remains is to send very best wishes for the festive season.
